So, how'm I doing?

So far, since last night when I made my resolutions, I cleaned my house, which was exercise, and I had the forethought to clean the house BEFORE I took a shower, which meant I felt really good after the shower. That counts as taking care of myself. (Then, of course, I ate a lot of junk food at a party, but most of it was dark chocolate, which is good for my heart and full of antioxidants, so it's only sort-of bad for me.)

And here I am writing, so that's two of my resolutions kept (for one whole day.)

Here are some things I learned today:

1) Bagged carrots from Trader Joe's are perfect for making snack-sized carrot sticks to bring in your lunchbox, but not the right size for crudite.

2) One good thing about having a party on New Year's Day is that your house starts the year clean.

3) Men do not understand how long things take. My mother says I should accept the things I cannot change. Her advice? Serenity now!

4) Some people always see the negative in things. Those people should be ignored.

5) I have family members who really make an effort to be in my life. Friends, too. I really appreciate those people.

6) My neighbors are nice. I should hang out with them more.

7) Being organized really makes party-throwing more pleasant. We keep notes after every party so that next year we'll know what to buy and what worked and what didn't. This was my mother's suggestion. Thanks, mom!

All-in-all, it was a good start to 2013. If the rest of the year goes as well, I'll be pretty darned lucky.

  1. That's a pretty good list. I should make an effort to get to know my neighbours, maybe they are nice too.
